August de Weerth

Peter August de Weerth (born October 30, 1832 in Elberfeld (today a district of Wuppertal ); † January 6, 1885 there ) was a German banker .

Life

August de Weerth came from an old Elberfeld bourgeois family. After visiting the school in Elberfeld (1844-1849) and high school there, he studied at the University of Heidelberg Law and became in 1852 a member of the Corps Suevia . After completing his studies, he returned to Elberfeld and worked as a lawyer and banker. Here he was one of the founders of the Bergisch-Märkische Bank in 1871 and became its first director. He was a city ​​councilor for Elberfeld .
