Coordinates: 33 ° 57 ′ S , 115 ° 4 ′ E The Shire of Augusta-Margaret River is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Western Australia . The area is 2240 km² and has about 11,750 inhabitants.
Augusta-Margaret River is located on the southwest tip of Australia about 250 km south of the capital Perth . The seat of the City Council is in the city of Margaret River in the northwest of the LGA, where about 6400 inhabitants live (2016).

The Augusta-Margaret River Council has seven members elected by the residents of the three wards (three from the North Ward, two each from Leeuwin and the Margaret River Ward). The Council Chairman and President des Shires are also recruited from among the Councilor.
