Coordinates: 31 ° 54 ′  S , 115 ° 57 ′  E The Town of Bassendean is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Western Australia . Bassendean belongs to the metropolis of Perth , the capital of Western Australia. The area is 11 km² and has about 14,400 inhabitants.

Bassendean is located on the Swan River about ten kilometers northeast of Perth city ​​center . The area comprises three neighborhoods: Ashfield, Bassendean, and Eden Hill. The seat of the City Council is in the Bassendean district in the center of the LGA, where around 10,300 people live (2016).

The Bassendean Council has eight members elected by residents of the three wards (three each from the East and West Ward, two from the North Ward). The council chairman and mayor of the town are also recruited from among the councilors.
