Auguste Durand
Marie-Auguste Massacrié-Durand (born July 18, 1830 in Paris , † May 31, 1909 ) was a French publisher , organist and composer .
He studied with François Benoist at the Paris Conservatory . From 1849 he worked as an organist in Saint-Ambroise, later in Ste-Geneviève, St-Roch and St-Vincent-de-Paul (1862–1874).
His better-known works include the Valse (waltz) in E flat major, Opus 83.
Together with Louis Schoenewerk, Durand founded the publishing house Durand-Schoenewerk & Cie. In 1869 . , which became one of the most important publishers of French composers such as Jules Massenet , Claude Debussy and Camille Saint-Saëns . Durand began to publish the complete works of Maurice Ravel from 1905 .
