Augustin-Norbert Morin (born October 13, 1803 in Saint-Michel , Québec , † July 27, 1865 ) was a Canadian lawyer, judge and politician.

Life

Augustin-Norbert Morin was born in Saint-Michel into a large family of Catholic farm workers and was soon discovered by the pastor to be very gifted and talented. This enabled him to visit the Petit Séminaire de Québec from 1815 . After completing the seminar, Morin first worked as a newspaper seller in order to enable himself to study law as an employee of Denis-Benjamin Viger . In 1828 he went into business for himself and two years later he began to get involved in politics.

On October 28, 1851, he finally became Premier of Eastern Canada and held this position until January 27, 1855. Morin Heights, a city in the province of Québec , and Val-Morin are named after him.
