from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Augustin Stom also Augustinus Stom ; († around 1681 ) was a Dutch painter .

Life

Stom was a painter in the tradition of Caravaggism , who mainly worked in Utrecht . Little is known about his origin and his career. In an entry from the Lucasgilde in Antwerp from 1633 to 1634, in connection with the carver and at that time active dean of the guild Hans van Mildert as master Augustyn Stom, "handelear (en schilder)" is mentioned. In an invoice he was awarded 20 guilders. In 1652 he married. In 1669 he drew up his will and in 1681 he seems to have already died, since on November 16 of that year his widow painted the painter Cornelis Jonson van Ceulen the Elder. J. got married so he must have died this year or earlier.
