Benedetto Coda
Benedetto Coda (verifiable from 1492 ; † around 1535 in Rimini ) was an Italian painter.
Benedetto Coda was a painter who mainly worked in Rimini. His origins and training are unknown. According to Vasari , he was a student of Giovanni Bellini . It is therefore largely assumed that it could have come from Venice . His surviving pictures, which are mainly in Pesaro , Rimini and Ravenna , show only a few typical Venetian elements and are more close to the art of Francesco Francia , so that an influence from him can be assumed. Umbrian influences are also conceivable. In 1531 , together with his son Bartolomeo Coda , who was also a painter, he was commissioned to paint a Madonna with God the Father and Saints James, Christophorus and Catherine for the Domenico community in Cesena . The picture can no longer be verified today.
According to Vasari, he also instructed the young Raphael in painting.
