Lockenhaus Augustinian Hermit Monastery
The Augustinian Hermit Monastery Lockenhaus in the market town of Lockenhaus in the Oberpullendorf district in Burgenland is structurally connected to the Lockenhaus parish and pilgrimage church and is a listed building .
history
The monastery building of the Order of the Augustinian Hermits was built from 1655 to 1668 and expanded in 1720 with the construction of the west wing. In 1820 the use as a monastery was ended. In 1868 the monastery building was adapted as the summer palace of the Esterházy family .
architecture
The former monastery is a simple two-storey three-wing building. The arcades in the courtyard are walled up.
