Augustinian Choir Women-Stift Pyritz
The pin (also Kloster ) was a religious house the Augustine canon women in Pyritz ( Polish Pyrzyce ) in Pomerania 1246-1569.
history
The monastery was founded in 1246 by Duke Barnim I of Pomerania at the gates of the medieval city. He was given patronage over the town church, as well as the school and the sexton. As early as 1250, the city church became the responsibility of the Wülfinghausen monastery near Hildesheim . The details are unknown.
The women (often called nuns ) were given land ownership by various Pomeranian dukes, plus some donations from citizens. No other information has been obtained about the story.
In 1569 the monastery was dissolved and the remaining women choir moved to other places. The complex passed into ducal ownership.
