Villy-le-Bois is a French commune with 55 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Aube department in the Grand Est region (before 2016 Champagne-Ardenne ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Troyes and the canton of Les Riceys (until 2015 the canton of Bouilly ). The inhabitants call themselves Villeboisiens / Villeboisiennes .

The municipality is located about 15 kilometers south of Troyes in the south of the Aube department. Neighboring municipalities are Villemereuil in the north, Les Bordes-Aumont in the northeast, La Vendue-Mignot in the east, Maupas in the south, Longeville-sur-Mogne in the southwest, Saint-Jean-de-Bonneval and Assenay in the west and Villy-le-Maréchal in the Northwest.
history
The place is first mentioned in a document in the 18th century as Villi aux Bois . Villy-le-Bois was part of the Bailiage (Bailliage) Troyes. Until the French Revolution , the municipality was in the province of Champagne . From 1793 to 1801 Villy-le-Bois was assigned to the district of Ervy and the canton of Saint Jean de Bonneval. From 1801 to 2015, the municipality was in the canton of Bouilly and has been part of the canton of Les Riceys ever since. Villy-le-Bois has been part of the Troyes arrondissement since 1801.
