Noé-les-Mallets (1793 and 1801 with the spellings Noé and Noée ) is a French commune with 117 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Aube department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Champagne-Ardenne ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Troyes and to the municipal association Barséquanais en Champagne, which was founded in 2016 .
geography
The municipality of Noé-les-Mallets is 15 kilometers east of Bar-sur-Seine and about 45 kilometers southeast of Troyes . The 8.33 km² large municipal area describes a basin enclosed by a horseshoe-shaped chain of hills, which is only open to the west. In the Ialkessel rises in the middle of the village Noé, the river Ruisseau de Noé , which swings to the southwest and flows six kilometers further into the Ource in Loches-sur-Ource . As in a crater, the hills around the valley basin rise by almost 100 meters , with the slopes being planted with vines. There are also vineyards in the southwest, above the hamlet of Le Grand Mallet , which are oriented to the south and east. In the north and northwest of the municipality there are smaller forests between the fields on the high plateaus. On the semi-circular high plateau around the village of Noé, the Mont de Noë , the highest point in the municipality, lies in the east at 357 m above sea level.
Noé-les-Mallets is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Éguilly-sous-Bois and Vitry-le-Croisé in the north, Saint-Usage in the east, Fontette in the southeast, Essoyes in the south, Loches-sur-Ource in the southwest (point of contact) and Chacenay in the west and northwest.
Place name
Noé is the name of the river that has its source in the municipality; with -les-Mallets , the two mallets , the districts Le Grand Mallet and Le Petit Mallet are meant. By decree of March 24, 2009, the municipality name was changed from Noë-les-Mallets to Noé-les-Mallets .
