Messon is a commune in the Aube department in the Grand Est region of France .

geography

Messon is about 13 kilometers west of Troyes in the south of the Champagne region .

history

The region was already settled in Celtic times, as archaeological finds show. In Roman times there was a road near the place. From the 10th to the 13th centuries, Messon belonged to the county of Champagne and was a fiefdom of Chennegy , which was part of the Bailiwick of Troyes. From the 13th century the land belonged to the Counts of Messon, who built a church and a castle here.
