Eaux-Puiseaux is a French commune with 255 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Aube department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Champagne-Ardenne ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Troyes and to the Val d'Armance municipal association founded in 2002 . The residents are called puisotins .

geography

Eaux-Puiseaux is about halfway between the cities of Troyes on the edge of the 60 km long and up to 20 km wide forest area Forêt d'Othe . The municipal area of ​​8.61 km² has no surface running water, which is due to the calcareous subsoil. The ground relief slopes slightly to the south and some dry valleys can drain excess water southwards in the direction of the Armance River valley during heavy rain or snowmelt .

The municipality consists of the two villages Eaux and Puiseaux and the hamlets of Les Bordes and Chêne Millot . The church and town hall stand somewhat isolated between Eaux and Puiseaux. Eaux-Puiseaux is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Maraye-en-Othe in the north, Auxon in the east and south and Vosnon in the west.

The municipality of Eaux-Puiseaux was formed in 1849 when it was separated from the municipality of Auxon.

Economy and Infrastructure

Nine farms are located in Eaux-Puiseaux, mainly dealing with the cultivation of grain.

There are no kindergartens or schools in the community; the neighboring municipality of Auxon covers the demand .

The southern municipal boundary of Eaux-Puiseaux forms the national road 77 , which leads from Troyes to Auxerre .

Personalities

The writer Robert Antelme (1917–1990) spent the last years of his life in the Rue des Bordes in Eaux-Puiseaux.
