Vulaines is a French commune with 225 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Aube department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Champagne-Ardenne ). The municipality is part of the Troyes arrondissement and the Pays d'Othe municipal association founded in 2002 . The inhabitants are called Vulainais .

geography

Vulaines is located on the Vanne halfway between the cities of Troyes and Sens . The municipality is located in the extreme southwest of the Grand Est region on the border with the Yonne department and the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region . The municipal area of 8.72 km² extends from the wide river valley of the Vanne in the south over a striking terrain to a low-forest high plateau in the north. Some arid valleys are embedded in this plateau because the calcareous subsoil allows rainwater to seep away.

Vulaines is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Planty in the north, Saint-Benoist-sur-Vanne in the east, Rigny-le-Ferron in the south, Flacy in the southwest and Bagneaux in the west.
