The inhabitants are called Acoutins / Acoutines .

geography

Villechétif is only 6 kilometers northeast of Troyes in the center of the Aube department. The municipality consists of the villages of Villechétif and Belley and the settlement of La Croix de Belley.

Neighboring communities are Creney-près-Troyes in the west and north, Mesnil-Sellières in the north-east, Bouranton in the east, Thennelières in the south-east and Saint-Parres-aux-Tertres in the south-west.

history

Until the French Revolution, Villechétif was within the province of Champagne . The parish belonged to the Troyes district from 1793 to 1801. It has been part of the Troyes arrondissement since 1801. From 1793 to 1801 the place was assigned to the canton of Thennelières. From 1801 to 2015 the municipality was within the canton of Troyes-1 . Belley was incorporated between 1795 and 1800 (1793: 145 inhabitants).
