Pietro Martinelli

Pietro Martinelli (born February 6, 1934 in Lugano ) is a Swiss engineer , politician , Ticino Grand Councilor and State Councilor of the Partito Socialista Autonomo (PSA) and the Social Democratic Party of Switzerland (SP).

biography

Pietro Martinelli was born the son of Felice Martinelli electrical engineer from Morcote , and Maria Busti. He attended high school in Milan and then studied civil engineering in Milan and at the ETH Zurich . 1962–1987 he was co-owner of an engineering office in Lugano. In 1964 he was President of the Association of Ticino Young Socialists and in 1965 he was one of the founders of the magazine "Politica Nuova" and in 1969 was one of the founders of the Ticino Partito Socialista Autonomo. He represented this party in the Grand Council from 1967 to 1987 and was later its only State Councilor (1987–1999, Interior and Justice Department, later Social Department). After the reunification of the PSA with the Social Democratic Party of Switzerland (PS) he was a member.
