Giuseppe Antonio Molo

Giuseppe Antonio Molo (born October 17, 1789 in Bellinzona ; † November 22, 1857 ibid) was a Swiss lawyer , politician , officer , Ticino Grand Councilor and Councilor of State of the Free Democratic Party (FDP).

Life

Giuseppe Antonio Molo was born to Carlo Francesco Molo of Bellinzona and Lucia Molo. From 1808 he studied law at the University of Pavia and graduated in 1811. With the rank of captain, he served in the French army. After the constitutional reform of 1830, he returned to the canton of Ticino, where he worked as a lawyer and notary.

From 1830 to 1834 he was a judge at the cantonal court and was mayor of Bellinzona from 1835 to 1838; in 1836 and 1840–1841 he was envoy to the Federal Diet and 1834–1839 Ticino Grand Council. In 1836 he took over the editing of the moderate weekly Iride .

As a State Councilor, he headed the Finance Department from 1839 to 1842. He resigned from the government to take over the post of General Director of Customs for a short time, but soon fell seriously ill.
