Giacomo Angelo Lotti (born October 1, 1784 in Bignasco , † October 30, 1850 in Bellinzona ) was a Swiss lawyer and Ticino Grand and State Councilor. Lotti grew up as the son of Giacomo Francesco Lotti in a Catholic family in Bignasco. He was married to Giovanna Molo. His place of origin was Bignasco .

politics

From 1809 to 1830 and 1839 Lotti was a member of the Ticino Grand Council . He was elected as Ticino State Council in the years 1815 to 1836 and 1839 and was simultaneously chairman of the Ticino Grand Council and thus "Landamano reggente" in the years 1819–20, 1823–24, 1827–28 and 1830. After the liberal revolution of 1839, he and other moderate members of the deposed government were sentenced to six months of forced labor for high treason .

Due to his participation in the counter-revolution of 1841, he fled into exile in Modena and was welcomed by friends and acquaintances. When an amnesty was proclaimed for those involved in the failed counter-revolution in 1849 , he returned to Ticino. The long term of office as a member of the cantonal government is due to a clientele system.
