JY1SAT , Jordan OSCAR 97 or JO-97 is a Jordanian amateur radio satellite . JY1SAT is a 1U CubeSat developed for the Crown Prince Foundation in Jordan and operated by the Royal Jordanian Amateur Radio Company. The satellite was named in honor of the Crown Prince's grandfather, King Hussein , with his personal amateur radio call sign JY1 and the addition SAT. After a successful start and the reception of the first telemetry, the satellite was assigned the OSCAR number 97 at the request of the Crown Prince Foundation.

JY1SAT is a 1U CubeSat developed and built by the Royal Jordanian Amateur Radio Society. The satellite carries a linear transponder for mode U / V for ( SSB , CW ). This is based on the FUNCube platform. The transponder is therefore also known as FUNcube-6. In addition to the usual FUNcube functions, images can also be downloaded in SSDV format. This image format developed by Phil Heron, MI0VIM for use in high altitude balloons is also used by LO-94 from lunar orbit. The telemetry downlink frequency is 145.840 MHz. The usual FUNcube standard format 1k2 BPSK is used here. The linear transponder for SSB and CW modes is downlink at 145.855–145.875 MHz and uplink at 435.100–435.120 MHz. Since the transponder inverts, the lower sideband (LSB) should be used on the uplink and the upper sideband (USB) on the downlink.

mission

The satellite was launched on December 3, 2018 at 13:34 UTC with a Falcon 9 rocket together with 63 other small satellites from Vandenberg AFB Space Launch Complex 4 in the USA.

Frequencies

  • 145.840 MHz telemetry
  • 145.855–145.875 MHz downlink ( SSB , CW , 500 mW)
  • 435.100–435.120 MHz uplink (SSB, CW)
