PANSAT (for Petite Amateur Navy Satellite , also OSCAR 34 ) is an American amateur radio satellite .
The satellite was built by students at the Naval Postgraduate School . It offered the possibility of packet radio transmission in BPSK or Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum in the 70 centimeter band .
PANSAT was launched on October 30, 1998 during the space shuttle mission STS-95 .
