CAS-7B , also BP-1B or BIT Progress-OSCAR 102 (BO-102 for short) is a Chinese amateur radio and training satellite . CAS stands for "Chinese amateur radio satellite".

Development and technology

CAS-7B was by the Chinese amateur radio satellite group of CAMSAT (Chinese AMSAT ), in cooperation with the Technical University of Beijing ( English Beijing Institute of Technology developed). CAMSAT carried out the project planning, construction, construction and tests and operates the satellite in orbit. The BIT provided the satellite environmental tests, launch assistance and financial support. Many BIT students were involved in the project and learned about satellite technology and amateur radio.

The satellite is based on a modified CubeSat platform (1.5U), has an additional base plate and a flexible, inflatable foil ball. The ball serves to stabilize the position through the flow resistance in the thermosphere . The satellite is equipped with a CW telemetry - Bake and an FM - Repeater feature. Two rod antennas serve as antenna .

The OSCAR number administrator of AMSAT North America assigned the number 102 to this satellite. The satellite is therefore also called BIT Progress-OSCAR 102, or BO-102 for short, in the amateur radio community.

mission

The satellite was launched on July 25, 2019 on a Hyperbola-1 launcher from the Jiuquan Cosmodrome in China . After the start, the FM transponder and the CW beacon were activated. Due to the low height of the orbit, the CAS-7B burned up on August 6, 2019.

Frequencies

The following frequencies for the satellite with the callsign BI1LG have been coordinated by the International Amateur Radio Union :

  • 145.900 MHz - Uplink FM
  • 435.690 MHz - Downlink FM (power 20 dBm)
  • 435.715 MHz - CW beacon (power 20 dBm)
