HuskySat-1 , HS-1 also HuskySat-OSCAR-107 or HO-107, is a 3U CubeSat that was developed, built and tested by the Husky Satellite Lab at the University of Washington (UW) in Seattle .

HuskySat-1 is the first amateur satellite from Washington State . This CubeSat was used to demonstrate technologies developed at the UW, which expand the possibilities of using CubeSats. In particular, a pulsed high pressure plasma engine (PPT) and a high frequency K-band communication system form the core technology on board the satellite. The HuskySat-1 also carries a linear transponder developed by AMSAT .

The satellite was selected by NASA's CubeSat Launch Initiative (CSLI) in 2017 and launched as part of the ELaNa program.

mission

The satellite was launched on November 2, 2019 from the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport on Wallops Island with a Cygnus space transporter to supply the ISS . After the transporter reached the ISS on January 31, 2020, HuskySat-1 was suspended. A three month training mission began for the UW students. After completion of this phase, the linear transponder for the amateur radio service was put into operation. The OSCAR number administrator of AMSAT – North America has assigned the number 107 to this satellite and designates HuskySat-1 as HuskySat-OSCAR 107 (HO-107).

  • 145.910 - 145.940 MHz LSB / CW uplink
  • 435.840 - 435.810 MHz USB / CW (inverting) down
  • 435.800 MHz, 1k2 bps BPSK
  • 24.049 GHz (experimental downlink)
