XI-IV , (SAI VIER) is a Japanese education and technology testing satellite and an amateur radio satellite . XI stands for X-factor Investigator. It is the fourth satellite in this series, although the first three prototypes were not launched. After a successful start, the OSCAR number 57 was assigned and the satellite also bears the designation Cube-OSCAR-57 (CO-57).

construction

XI-IV was designed and built at Tokyo University . It is Picosatellit based on the 1U CubeSat platform. Standard components were used for the construction . The satellite carries a CMOS camera .

mission

The satellite was launched on June 30, 2003 with the Russian rocket Rockot together with 8 other satellites from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in Russia.
