OSCAR 42 (also Saudi OSCAR 42 or before the start of Saudisat 1B ) is a Saudi Arabian amateur radio satellite .
The satellite was developed by the KACST Space Research Institute in Riyadh . Saudi OSCAR 42 was launched on September 26, 2000 together with four other small satellites with a Dnepr rocket from the Baikonur Cosmodrome . The satellite contains an amateur radio relay for an FM voice radio channel .
Its COSPAR designation is 2000-057E.
