HITSAT (also OSCAR 59 , HO-59 ) was a Japanese technology testing and amateur radio satellite owned by the Hokkaido Institute of Technology .

It had the shape of a cube with an edge length of 12 centimeters and a mass of 2.7 kg. On board were a 100 mW strong CW propagation and telemetry beacon, which transmitted on 437.275 MHz , and an FM transmitter on 437.425 MHz with a 145.980 MHz uplink .

HITSAT was launched on September 22, 2006 from the Uchinoura Space Center as a secondary payload together with the Hinode Space Telescope and SSSat on an MV rocket and was used to train students.
