OSCAR 6 was an American amateur radio satellite .

It was launched on October 15, 1972 with a Delta 300 rocket from Vandenberg AFB Space Launch Complex 2 . It was the first satellite developed by AMSAT . Its COSPAR designation was 1972-082B.

The first satellite connection via two satellites was carried out in 1975 via OSCAR 6 and OSCAR 4 . On June 21, 1977 the satellite went out of service.
