Augusto Legnani

Augusto Legnani Rodriguez (born March 23, 1912 in Montevideo , † May 15, 1987 ibid) was a Uruguayan politician .

Augusto Legnani was the son of Mateo Legnani Golfarini , who came from Italy and who practiced as a doctor in the Department of Canelones . Augusto Legnani studied law , received his doctorate in March 1940 and later worked as a lawyer. From 1940 he initially worked as a teacher and from 1949 until his resignation in 1961 he was deputy secretary ("Prosecretario") of the electoral court ("Corte Electoral").

Legnani, who like his father belonged to the Partido Colorado and within which he was most recently a member of the "Comité Ejecutivo Nacional" of the Unión Colorada y Batllista , sat in the 38th legislative period as the representative of the Department of Canelones from March 7, 1961 to February 14 1963 as deputy in the Cámara de Representantes . In the following legislative period he then held a titular mandate in that Chamber of Deputies from February 15, 1963 to August 17, 1965. In 1963 he was the second vice-president of the chamber. In 1966 Legnani moved to the Consejo Nacional de Gobierno for Óscar Gestido, who had left because of the preparation for his presidential candidacy . From March 1, 1967 to May 8, 1968 Legnani headed the Ministry of the Interior of Uruguay. After he was the permanent representative of Uruguay to the United Nations , Legnani replaced Enrique Magnani on July 19, 1972 after his resignation as Uruguay's defense minister and held this office until October 20, 1972.
