Aurelia Island (English; Bulgarian остров Аурелия ostrow Aurelija ) is an east-west orientation 300 m long and 190 m wide rocky island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located 200 m northeast of Cape Wallace and 1.2 km southwest of Beslen Island off the Limez Peninsula of Low Island .
British scientists mapped them in 2009. The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named them in 2018 after the Bulgarian trawler Aurelia , who had operated under Captain Ivan Presnakov from September 1977 to April 1978 for fishing in the waters around South Georgia and the South Orkney Islands .
