Aurelius Iulianus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aurelius Iulianus (his praenomen is not known) was a member of the Roman knighthood ( Eques ) living in the 3rd century AD .

An inscription that was found at the Banna fort and that is dated 205/208 shows that Iulianus was the tribune of the Cohors I Aelia Dacorum , who was stationed in the province of Britannia at that time . The inscription shows that the Cohors I Aelia Dacorum and the Cohors I Thracum built the horreum in the fort and that the work took place under the supervision of Iulianus.

Iulianus had a tombstone erected for his son Aurelius Concordius , who died at the age of one year and 5 days, which was found at Banna Castle.

Remarks

  1. According to Oliver Stoll it is noticeable that the mother of the deceased child is not listed; she probably died earlier.
