Aurora Place is the common name for Renzo Piano's award-winning residential / office tower in Sydney . Its official name is RBS Tower . Originally a New South Wales government office building stood on the site . The builders were Bovis Lend Lease . In January 2001, they sold the building for $ 485 million. The skyscraper is the eighth tallest building in the city of Sydney.
The east facade of the 41-storey building is convex shaped like a wind-filled sail and thus corresponds to the nearby harbor and the opera house there . Piano clad the base with the same terracotta tiles as on Potsdamer Platz .
In June 2009, Alain Robert climbed the building.
