Sideline gate (Königsberg)

The view through the side gate

The exit gate in Königsberg was part of the fortification system from the 19th century. It was in exactly the same place as the early fortification ring from 1626, at the intersection of Friedrich-Ebert-Straße with the Deutschordensring. The gate was a long, dark tunnel through the ramparts and could only be used by pedestrians. The remains are still there today.
