Foreign service teacher

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Foreign Service Teacher (ADLK) is the official name in Germany for teaching staff with a lifelong or permanent contract who are on leave from their domestic employer in the federal states in order to take up service at a German school abroad . The leave of absence is usually for three years. There is a possibility of extension. Under special conditions, a leave of absence can be granted for a maximum of 8 years.

The start of the international school service must take place before the completion of the 61st year of life.

Foreign service teachers receive grants for the foreign school service from the budget of the Federal Foreign Office according to the “Guideline for grants for teachers in foreign school service”, which is published on the homepage of the Central Office for Schools Abroad. As a rule, the headmasters of German schools abroad and teachers with a teaching qualification for secondary levels I + II are foreign service teachers .

Although the financial support is provided by the federal government , no employment relationship is established with it. The salary of civil servants is based on the Federal Salary Act . Salary group and level are based on the grouping / classification of the teacher on the last day before the exemption from the previous employer.
