The exclamation stone

The Ausrufstein (in the local dialect: Uusrüafschti ) is a slightly elevated stone platform that is located in the municipality of Mittelberg in the Austrian Kleinwalsertal and is part of the Walser Culture Trail . The stone weighs 1.8 tons.

Set in January 1595, it served as an exclamation stone for more than 300 years, on which the official passed on important messages to the fellow citizens after going to church on Sunday.

After the introduction of an official gazette in 1919 the stone lost its function.

On the front side there is a relief with the year of creation.
