The Roman Catholic parish church of Hirschegg is located in the village of Hirschegg in the municipality of Mittelberg in Kleinwalsertal in the Bregenz district in Vorarlberg . It is consecrated to St. Anna and belongs to the deanery of Vorderwald-Kleinwalsertal in the diocese of Feldkirch . The building is a listed building .

Location description

The church is located in the middle of the street village Hirschegg. It is oriented to the south.

history

A chapel is known here at the beginning of the 16th century, which was expanded in 1652. In 1745 it was enlarged and became a local chaplaincy. In 1790 the cemetery was rebuilt, and in 1792 it was elevated to parish church.

In 1805/06 a new parish church was built with the master builder Georg Mathis and the master bricklayer Josef Zengerle and consecrated in 1806. Restorations took place in 1863, 1885 and 1966. The arched portal with a stone wall shows the year 1806 on the keystone.

architecture

The church consists of a nave and a retracted choir with a shared gable roof. The church tower has a gabled spire and stands in the southeast. The sacristy is attached to the south of the nave.

The frescoes, the Last Supper in the choir vault and, on the left, the passage to the temple of Mary , were painted by Johann Kärle in 1885 . The fresco on the choir arch, the Annunciation and the Assumption of Mary in the nave were painted by Franz Xaver Dietrich in 1907 . The frescoes, on the gallery St. Cecilia, in the corner medallions the four church fathers , on the gallery ceiling Moses and the burning bush, painted in 1907 by Franz Xaver Dietrich. The decorative painting comes from Engelbert Luger (1907).
