The Australian Professional Championship 1975 was a professional snooker tournament in the context of the 1975/76 season without influence on the world rankings and in the function of the national professional championship of Australia. The tournament without prize money or sponsors was held in Australia from August 1975 to the 29th of the same month . The winner was Eddie Charlton for the seventh time in a row and for the tenth time overall , who defeated Dennis Wheelwright in the final with 31:10 and played the highest break of the tournament with a 115 break .
Tournament course
Compared to the previous year, the number of participants decreased from ten to six players, which consisted of four professional and two amateur players. Four of the players started the tournament in a first round game, with the winners of the two games each facing one of the remaining players in the semifinals. In the knockout system , the winner of the tournament was then played out. The first round was played in the best of 21 frames mode , the semifinals in the best of 37 frames mode and the final in the best of 61 frames mode .

The Australian Eddie Charlton was the dominant player of the tournament and had won nine editions up to this point. The reigning vice-world champion had qualified for the final with a clear 19: 9 victory over Jim Charlton , in which he met first-round participant Dennis Wheelwright , who moved into the semifinals with a clear 11: 4 victory over Lou Condo and there had secured a place in the final with a relatively narrow 19:15 win over Ron Mares .
