The Australian Professional Championship 1974 was a professional snooker tournament in the 1974/75 season without influence on the world rankings and in the function of the national professional championship of Australia. The tournament without prize money and sponsors was held from August 1974 to the 30th of the same month in the Australian city of Wagga Wagga . For the sixth time in a row and for the ninth time overall, Eddie Charlton won the tournament when he defeated Warren Simpson 44:17 in the final and nevertheless played the highest break of the tournament with a 105 break during the game .
Tournament course
A total of ten players, nine professional and one amateur, took part in the tournament, increasing the number of participants by three compared to the previous year. After two of the players had played a first round game and the winner had played another game in the second round, a total of eight players remained in the quarter-finals, who then played for victory in the knockout system . On the basis of the available game results, there is no clear game mode to be recognized or to be assessed as questionable. Probably the semifinals were played over 37 frames and the final over 61 frames, so these two rounds have a clear game mode.

The Australian Eddie Charlton was in the finals for the eleventh time in a row, having won a total of eight times, including the last five tournaments. In this edition, Charlton had achieved through a clear win over Rex King as well as a slightly narrower win over Paddy Morgan . In the finals he met Warren Simpson , making the final a remake of the finals of 1964, 1966-1969 and 1971, with Simpson only in 1968 had the upper hand. This had also started that year with a clear victory over Ron Mares and had then defeated Norman Squire .
There are no exact records of the finale itself. In the end, Charlton also won with a 105 break with 44:17 and won the tournament for the sixth time in a row and for the ninth time overall.
