Australia Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Australia Prize was Australia's premier research award between 1990 and 1999 . The prize was awarded annually for outstanding achievements in science and technology. No winners were selected in 1991. The Australian government awarded the prize internationally; 10 of the 28 award winners were not Australians.

Since 2000, the Prime Minister's Science Awards have replaced the Australia Prize. The main prize is the Prime Minister's Prize for Science . In addition, the Science Minister's Prize for Life Scientist of the Year and the Malcolm McIntosh Prize for Physical Scientist of the Year are awarded to prominent young scientists. In addition, in 2002 prizes were set up for outstanding teachers in primary and secondary schools ( Prime Minister's Prize for Excellence in Science Teaching in Primary Schools and Prime Minister's Prize for Excellence in Science Teaching in Secondary Schools ).
