Partido del Campo Popular ( Spanish for Rural People's Party ), abbreviated to PCP , is a nationalist party in Argentina . Since the merger with MODIN in 2010, it has been the most important nationwide active right-wing populist to right-wing extremist party in the country.

history

The oldest predecessor organization with legal continuity to today's PCP, the Movimiento por la Dignidad y la Independencia (MODIN) San Luis, was founded in 1993; the nationwide MODIN association was at times represented in the Argentine congress with a representative. Another predecessor organization is the Movimiento Patriótico de Córdoba, founded in Córdoba in 2003 .

The Partido del Campo Popular itself was an insignificant small party until 2010. In 2009 she gained recognition in the provinces of Santa Fe , Buenos Aires and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires . In the same year she took part in the parliamentary elections in the electoral areas of the province of Santa Fe and in the city of Buenos Aires, but failed to win a mandate by far.

In 2010, on the initiative of José Bonacci, the district associations of San Luis and the city of Buenos Aires joined MODIN and the Movimiento Patriótico de Córdoba to the Partido del Campo Popular .

In 2011, the PCP took part in the primaries for the presidential election with José Bonacci as the presidential candidate , but failed to pass the 1.5 percent hurdle for entry into the actual election and ended up in last place with 0.23%.

Content profile

The party is committed to the constitution of Argentina , but rejects the current political system in Argentina. Foreign policy, referred to as “big politics”, should have priority over domestic policy. A state-controlled economy is advocated.

The concepts of patria ( fatherland ) and nation , which are understood as concepts that stand above man, play a major role in the program . Culturally, Argentina should orientate itself on the Hispanic-American model, the state should protect the citizen from the influence of "foreign" cultural elements.

Relationship to right-wing extremism

It is controversial whether the PCP belongs to right-wing extremism or only represents moderate nationalism. MODIN, which merged with the party in 2010, was right-wing conservative to right-wing populist; its founder Aldo Rico was the main person responsible for the so-called Carapintada incident in 1987, in which a group of military officers forcibly forced the pardon of some criminals of the military dictatorship of the so-called "Proceso de Reorganización Nacional" .

According to articles in the newspaper Página / 12, there are close contacts with the neo-Nazi Alejandro Biondini . The current party chairman, José Bonacci, had already supported Biondini in a public statement in 2000 after harsh criticism by the then human rights commissioner of the Diana Conti government of his then Partido Nuevo Triunfo , which was accused of anti-democratic tendencies, anti-Semitism and right-wing extremism. The Alternativea Social party founded by Biondini in 2009 and active only in the autonomous city of Buenos Aires , which is considered the successor to the Partido Nuevo Triunfo , was originally intended to be integrated into the party during the merger with MODIN 2010. In the end, the Alternativa Social remained independent; According to party president José Bonacci , one of the reasons is that the PCP, in contrast to the alternative social, is “not xenophobic .
