Car 2000
Auto 2000 was the slang term for several concept vehicles from the automobile manufacturers Audi , Mercedes-Benz , Opel and Volkswagen, as well as the HAG university working group, which from January 1978 funded a total of 110 million Deutschmarks from the Federal Ministry for Research and Technology (BMFT) Research project for the purpose of "demonstrating automotive research results in integrated overall concepts of test cars" and were presented in September 1981 at the International Motor Show IAA in Frankfurt. In the research work, the participants should present prototypes to be conceived (phase 1), designed and built (phase 2) as well as drivable and series-ready prototypes (phase 3), such as the framework goals of the BMFT for the year 2000 in the areas of exhaust gas and noise emissions, energy consumption and safety can be achieved with innovative solutions.
