Auto Europe is a US car broker headquartered in Portland, Maine, USA, with two offices in the United Kingdom and Germany (Munich).
The booking center for Europe is located in Munich. Incoming inquiries and bookings for all of Europe are processed in the company's own call center with around 150 employees ( as of December 2009 ). Rental cars are brokered worldwide by rental partners such as Avis , Europcar , Hertz or Budget .
history
The company was founded in the United States in 1954 with the idea of renting out a VW Beetle to American compatriots who wanted to visit their children who were stationed in Germany. From this point on, the concept was developed further. After a management change 15 years ago, the company expanded its activities and began to open up new markets.
Auto Europe arranges rental cars in Europe, North and South America , Australia , Southeast Asia , the Middle East and Africa . In 2001 two more branches were opened in Munich and London . Since then, the company has not limited itself to car rental for private customers. With more than 20,000 rental locations in 150 countries, the company offers transfer services, rental cars with chauffeur, luxury cars, sports cars, motorhome rentals, and GPS and cell phone rentals.
Auto Europe now has 500 employees worldwide and 150 employees in Germany.
