Budget Rent a Car is a rental car company founded by Morris Mirkin in 1958 in Los Angeles , California . The name was chosen to associate the fact that the landlord orients himself to the client's budget .
history
A relative of Mirkin's, Jules Lederer , founded a leasing company in 1959 and helped Mirkin build up the rental car fleet. The headquarters moved to Chicago , Illinois in 1960 and began expanding nationally and internationally. Budget was sold to Transamerica Corporation, which it sold to investors in 1986 . The headquarters moved again in 1992, this time to Lisle, Illinois . In 1997, Budget was bought by Team Rental Group . Now the establishment of partner programs, aimed at small and medium-sized companies, began to increase. With the name change to Budget Group, Inc. , the trading of Budget stocks on the NYSE began . After withdrawing from the stock exchange in 2002, the Budget Rent A Car part of the company was sold to the Cendant Corporation , which also owned Avis Europe Plc. heard.

The head office of Budget Rent a Car was based in Biberach an der Riss in Baden-Württemberg. The directors were Robert Straub and Andreas Oppitz. In September 2007 Robert Straub GmbH took over the operational business for the Budget brand in Germany. Both vehicles from Robert Straub GmbH and the vehicles from Budget now operate under the same name as Budget and have been registered in the Euskirchen district with the EU-BA * and EU-BB * license plates and in the Biberach district with the BC-TR * license plate Individual cases also to other cities.
