Lisle is a village in DuPage County in the northeast of the US -amerikanischen state of Illinois . In 2000 Lisle had 21,182 inhabitants; until the census in 2010 , the population increased to 22,390.

Lisle is part of the Chicago metropolitan area .

Title and special

Lisle is the center of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission Region III (includes most of the US states of the Midwest : Ohio , Michigan , Indiana , Wisconsin , Minnesota , Missouri , Iowa, and Illinois). There are 16 nuclear power plants in the zone  , six of which are in Illinois.

In July 2007, Lisle was ranked 20th on the list of the most livable cities by US magazine Money , in 2009 it was ranked 17th on the list of the most liveable places for the rich and single people.

geography

Lisle is in northeast Illinois, near Lake Michigan . The DuPage River is the closest major river in the Lisle area. Downtown Chicago is approximately 25 miles northeast.

history

In 1830 the Quaker Bailey Hobson, who was the first settler in DuPage County, also came to the Lisle region and thus became the founder of the city. The city was permanently inhabited from 1832 by the brothers James C. Hatch and Luther A. Hatch, after the Black Hawk War .

The brothers bought land near Ogden Avenue and started a farm they named East DuPage because of its proximity to the DuPage River . to the west of the Hatch brothers' estate, Naperville, now the oldest parish, was built .

In Lisle some (important) innovations were carried out in the 1830s. One of the first Illinois cemeteries was established there.

In 1956 Lisle was officially registered in the city register. On July 4, 2006, the congregation celebrated its 50th anniversary.

School education

Lisle is served by two school districts; Most of the village is served by the Lisle Community Unit School District 202 , parts of Lisle are also in the Naperville Community Unit School District 203 .

Most high school students attend Naperville North High School . Other high schools are the Lisle High School and the Benet Academy , a private denominational school of the Benedictines . There are also three middle schools - Kennedy Junior High School , Lisle Junior High and St. Joan of Arc .

According to the 2010 census , Lisle had 22,390 people in 9,235 households. The population density was 1,399.4 people per square kilometer.

The racial the population was composed of 77.7 percent white, 5.6 percent African American, 0.1 percent Native American, 11.9 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 2.1 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 7.5 percent of the population.

Statistically, 2.40 people lived in the 9,235 households.

21.0 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 68.1 percent were between 18 and 64 and 10.9 percent were 65 years or older. 50.6 percent of the population was female.

The median income for a household was 77,619  USD . The per capita income was $ 41,927. 3.6 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
