Bensenville is a town in DuPage County , Illinois , United States , with a small area near O'Hare International Airport in Cook County and overlapping with Chicago . According to the 2010 census, there were 18,352 residents in the city. Bensenville is home to the Edge Ice Arena , the stadium for the Chicago Steel Junior ice hockey team.

The place covers a total area of ​​15 square kilometers, of which 99.11% is land area and 0.89% is water area. Part of the land technically belongs to O'Hare Airport and is owned by the City of Chicago. However, there are two cemeteries on the airport site that belong to churches in Bensenville. There was significant litigation over the airport's desire to move the cemeteries to make way for runways.

Demographics

According to the United States Census 2010 , 18,353 people lived in the place. The population density was 5305 inhabitants per square kilometer. There were 6,743 houses in the village.

There were 6,312 households out of which 36.3% had children under the age of 18, 48.4% were married couples, 11% had a female head, and 33% were non-families. 26.4% of the households were single households and in 9.7% people over 65 years lived alone. The average household size was 2.89 and the average family size was 3.5.

24.5% of the population was younger than 18 years old, 7.4% were 20 to 24 years old, 30.6% were 25 to 44 years old, 23.9% were 45 to 64 years old, and 10.9% were 65 years or older. The median was 33.4 years.

The median income was USD 52,500 for households and USD 55,500 for families. About 15.4% of families lived below the poverty line.
