Barrington is a village in Cook County and Lake County in the US state of Illinois, founded in 1865 . At the 2000 census , the population was 10,168. Barrington is part of the Chicago metropolitan area .

According to the 2000 census, Barrington had 10,168 people. 13 of these people lived in collective accommodation, the other residents lived in 3,767 households and 2,798 families. The population density was 854 inhabitants per square kilometer. 3,903 residential units were recorded.
