Jeffrey "Jeff" Likens (born August 28, 1985 in Barrington , Illinois ) is an American ice hockey defender who has been under contract with the Grizzlys Wolfsburg in the German Ice Hockey League since the 2013/14 season .

Career

Jeff Likens began his career as a hockey player in 2003 on the hockey team of the University of Wisconsin – Madison , for which he played for a total of four years in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . Towards the end of the 2006/07 season, the American was signed by the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League . By the end of his first season in professional ice hockey, Likens had ten appearances in the regular season and six more in the playoffs. In the following season Likens played 56 games for the Monarchs in the AHL, and another 15 times for their farm team , the Reading Royals from the ECHL .

In the summer of 2008 Likens signed a contract with the Augsburger Panthers from the DEL . Two years later he joined the Nürnberg Ice Tigers . In April 2011, the American signed a contract with ERC Ingolstadt for the 2011/12 season . In April 2013 it was announced that Likens had signed with league competitor Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg for a year .

International

For the United States , Likens took part in the 2003 U18 World Junior Championships and the 2004 and 2005 U20 World Junior Championships . At the 2004 tournament he won the gold medal with the US selection. In total, he came to 19 missions in the three tournaments, in which the defender posted seven assists.
