Sebastian Furchner (born May 3, 1982 in Kaufbeuren ) is a German ice hockey player who has been playing in the DEL for Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg since the 2008/09 season .

Career

In his hometown Kaufbeuren, Furchner started early with ice hockey at the traditional ESV Kaufbeuren , where he went through all youth teams. In the 1998/99 season he made his debut for the professional team in what was then the 2nd Bundesliga . In the following season he ran on with the ESVK in the Regionalliga and after promotion in 2000 in the Oberliga . At this time, the left-handed shooter also took part in the first international tournaments for the selection of the German Ice Hockey Federation . At the U18 World Cup in Switzerland in 2000 and the U20 World Cup in 2001 , Furchner was one of the regular players. 2001 followed the move to Bremerhaven in the 2nd Bundesliga. Furchner, who was just 19 at the time, impressed with consistently strong performances and scored 27 points in 59 games. As a reward, he was nominated again for the U20 World Cup in 2002 .

The Kölner Haie , who originally wanted to bring him to the Rhine a year earlier, signed the winger for the DEL for the 2002/03 season . Although Furchner would have been eligible to play for a lower-class club with a sponsorship license , he played the entire season with the Haien and ended up being German runner-up with the team. In the next two years, the attacker was a support in the Cologne team and was able to increase his points yield from season to season. Furchner's plus / minus statistics in the third year stand out, where he achieved a very good value of +13. International

In addition to his appearances in the DEL, Furchner played a total of 31 times for the national team . He took part in the tournaments for the Germany Cup in 2003 and 2004, as well as in the 2005 World Cup in Austria , where he was relegated with the DEB selection. In the 2005/06 season, the left shooter was injured during the first game of the Olympic Games in Turin and had to end the season prematurely due to a shoulder operation.
