Career
The 1.80 m tall goalie began his career in the youth department of the EHC Freiburg before moving to the DNL record champions in Mannheim. Because of their goalkeeping problems Brückmann was appointed to the professional squad of Adler Mannheim in the highest German professional game class, the German Ice Hockey League , for the first time in the 2006/07 season . In 2008 he won the DNL title with the young eagles. Since the 2008/09 season Brückmann has been a regular back-up for the two regular goalkeepers Fred Brathwaite and Lukas Lang in the squad of the DEL record champions, but was initially mostly used by cooperation partner Heilbronner Falken from the 2nd Bundesliga .
Between 2011 and 2014 he played exclusively for the Adler, mostly as a second goalkeeper, and improved his performance from year to year. He was voted DEL Rookie of the Year in 2012. After the 2013/14 season, he moved within the DEL to the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg . In the 2014/15 season he achieved the best catch quota of the DEL goalkeepers.
Brückmann set a new DEL record in the 2016/17 season: on December 7, 2016, he celebrated his fourth shutout in a row against Düsseldorfer EG and was only overcome again in the following game against Eisbären Berlin . In total, he stayed 315:01 minutes without conceding a goal. The previous record was held by the German-Canadian goalkeeper Ian Gordon with a total of 213: 16 minutes without a goal .
International
With the U18 national team, he took part in the U18 Juniors Ice Hockey World Championship in 2008 , where he made two appearances and the U18 team took fifth place. From 2009 he was a regular player in the German U20 team and took part in the 2010 Division I U20 Junior World Championship . In doing so, the selection team managed to return to the top division directly.
In the 2013 season he made his first appearances in the men's national team .
