Nickolas "Nick" Latta (born October 5, 1993 in Schongau ) is a German - Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Grizzlys Wolfsburg in the German Ice Hockey League since the 2018/19 season .

Career

Nickolas Latta played from the 2008/09 season for SC Riessersee in the German Junior League (DNL). In his first season, the striker scored 10 goals and a total of 17 points in 35 games. With his team he was eliminated in the following play-offs in the first round against the Heilbronner Falken junior team . In the DNL season 2009/10 Latta was able to increase his points yield significantly and achieve 31 goals and 31 assists in 34 games. The SC Riessersee could not qualify for the play-offs.

Nick Latta was selected at the CHL Import Draft 2010 in the second round in 62nd position by the Sarnia Sting from the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). He decided to move to North America and completed 61 games in the 2010/11 OHL season for the Sting, in which he scored 15 points scorer. A total of 4 years he played for the Stings in the Canadian Junior League , where he was able to achieve 66 points (38 goals, 28 assists) last year.

After reaching the age limit for the Junior League at the age of 20, he was given the opportunity to play in the AHL for the New York Rangers' farm team - the Hartford Wolf Packs - in 2014 , where he earned 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist ) scored. When he was threatened with deportation to the ECHL to the Greenville Road Warriors for the 2014/15 season , he returned to the German Ice Hockey League and signed a contract with the Kölner Haien , which was extended for another year during the 2014/15 season .

On January 10, 2018, he terminated the contract with the Kölner Haien. On January 12, 2018, he signed a contract with Wichita Thunder until the end of the season. At the beginning of April 2018, Latta was announced as a new addition to the Wolfsburg Grizzlys .

International

Nick Latta represented the German national team for the first time in an international tournament at the U20 World Junior Championship in 2011 . The attacker played four games in this tournament in which he did not score any points.

family

His father Ken was also a professional ice hockey player and currently works as a coach . His uncle David was also a professional ice hockey player.
