David "Dave" Latta (born January 3, 1967 in Thunder Bay , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played in the NHL for the Québec Nordiques and in the German ice hockey league for the Adler Mannheim and the Augsburg Panthers .

Career

The 1.86 m tall winger began his career with the Kitchener Rangers in the Canadian Junior League OHL before he was selected ( drafted ) in the 1985 NHL Entry Draft as 15th in the first round by the Nordiques .

The left-shooter made his first NHL appearance in the 1985/86 season , but during his entire time in Québec he never got beyond the role of a supplementary player. Most of the time Latta spent with the Fredericton Express and the Halifax Citadels , two farm teams of the Nordiques in the American Hockey League . In the 1992/93 season , the Canadian moved to the 2nd German Bundesliga at EC Bad Nauheim , and via EC Bad Tölz and EC Peiting , he finally got to Adler Mannheim for the 1994/95 DEL premiere season . Another DEL station in Latta was the Augsburg Panthers in the 1995/96 season , but the Canadian never made a breakthrough in the highest German professional game class.

Latta ended his career in 1998 with the Anchorage Aces in the US Minor League WCHL , previously he had been active in the British Ice Hockey Superleague with the Manchester Storm .

International

For the Canadian U20 national team Dave Latta denied the Junior World Cup in 1987 , but in which the team was disqualified after a mass brawl in the game against the Soviet Union .
