Wade Bergman (born September 9, 1990 in Calgary , Alberta ) is a German - Canadian ice hockey defender . He measures 1.75 meters and is under contract with the Grizzlys Wolfsburg .
Career
Bergman started playing ice hockey at the age of three. Before he moved to the University of Minnesota-Duluth in 2009, he played in the junior division in the AJHL for the Olds Grizzlys. During his four years at university, he won the NCAA championship title with UMD in 2011.
In 2013 he then hit a professional career and was committed by the Swedish second division team Timrå IK . In January 2014 he separated from the club and moved to the neighboring country Norway to the Rosenborg IHK . There he stayed until the end of the 2013/14 season and was signed for the following season by Esbjerg Energy from the Danish first division. He then stayed in Esbjerg for a second year and won the Danish championship title with the club in the 2015/16 season.
In late May 2016, Fischtown Pinguins announced Bergman's commitment. At that time, the Bremerhaven-based company was still a member of the DEL2 , but received a license for the top German division, the German Ice Hockey League (DEL), at the end of June . With the Bremerhaveners he reached the DEL championship round in 2017 and 2018, after the end of the 2017/18 game year there was a separation.
At the beginning of April 2018, Bergman was announced as a new addition to the DEL club Grizzlys Wolfsburg .
